Act 1: Introduction to the Setting

Scene 1: The Elevator Frank Shephard (Colonel): (With a cane in hand) I guess you can see I’m not quite my old self. Sofia: Yes, it’s clear that you’ve been through a lot.

Colonel: (Pausing) You smell good, by the way.

Sofia: Thank you. It’s just… my own cologne.

Colonel: (Impressed) It’s expensive, and it smells like… it’s expensive.

Act 2: The Dinner Party

Scene 2: The Dinner Table Colonel: (Sipping wine) You ever had to lie to get what you wanted, Sofia?

Sofia: Lie? I’m not sure what you mean.

Colonel: (Smirking) Not even to save your own life?

Sofia: I suppose… yes, I have.

Colonel: (Setting down his glass) So, tell me about it.

Sofia: I… I didn’t want to die in that fire. So I… I said some things that I knew would make you save me.

Colonel: (Chuckles) You’re a good actress. You could have a future in that business.

Sofia: I prefer to keep it real, thank you.

Act 3: The Elevator Incident

Scene 3: The Elevator Colonel: (Pointing at a button) Why do you always take the elevator? The stairs are better.

Sofia: The stairs are… well, they’re a bit… difficult.

Colonel: (Impatiently) I know. They’re tough. But they’re better than the elevator.

Sofia: I understand. It’s just…

Colonel: (Cutting her off) It’s not just. It’s about facing your fears. And you need to face them head-on.

Act 4: The Revelation

Scene 4: The Living Room Colonel: (Sitting in a chair) I was in Vietnam. I lost my eyesight. You should have seen the jungle. It’s a jungle out there.

Sofia: I’m sorry. I had no idea.

Colonel: (Nods) But I made it through. And you can, too. You’re a strong woman. Don’t let anyone tell you differently.

Act 5: The End

Scene 5: The Elevator Colonel: (Smiling) You ready for the stairs?

Sofia: I think I am.

Colonel: (Proudly) Good. Now, let’s do this.

(They exit the elevator, and we fade to black as they start up the stairs together.)
