[Opening Scene: The ship is being built on the yard.]

Jack Dawson: (to Rose) Look at that. The biggest thing ever made by man. Imagine what we could do with that kind of power.

Rose DeWitt Bukater: (dreamily) I don’t know, Jack. I just know I’m scared.

Jack Dawson: (smiling) Scared? You’re the richest girl in the world. Scared of what?

Rose DeWitt Bukater: (looking at the ship) Scared of the power. Scared of the responsibility.

Jack Dawson: (grinning) You’re just scared of the dark, Rose.

Rose DeWitt Bukater: (smiling) Maybe.

[Cut to the Titanic’s maiden voyage.]

[The ship is sailing, and the passengers are enjoying the luxury.]

Cal Hockley: (to Rose) I must say, Miss DeWitt Bukater, you are a lovely woman. I find you most intriguing.

Rose DeWitt Bukater: (smiling) Thank you, Mr. Hockley. I find you… most… interesting.

[Rose and Jack meet on the deck.]

Jack Dawson: (to Rose) You know, I’m not like other men. I’m a dreamer.

Rose DeWitt Bukater: (smiling) A dreamer?

Jack Dawson: Yes. I mean, I see things differently. You know, I want to see the world.

Rose DeWitt Bukater: (looking at him) And you think I don’t?

Jack Dawson: (nodding) I think you do, but your life’s all planned out. You have to marry that man.

Rose DeWitt Bukater: (sighing) I know. It’s just…

Jack Dawson: (taking her hand) It’s just what you’re supposed to do, isn’t it?

Rose DeWitt Bukater: (looking at him) I don’t know. I don’t want to do what I’m supposed to do. I want to do what I want to do.

Jack Dawson: (smiling) Then come with me, Rose. You can see the world with me.

Rose DeWitt Bukater: (looking at him) But what if we can’t? What if we run out of money?

Jack Dawson: (grinning) Then we’ll make more. We’ll make a life together.

[The ship hits an iceberg.]

Captain Edward Smith: (to the crew) Iceberg straight ahead! Full speed astern!

[The ship starts to sink.]

Jack Dawson: (to Rose) I’m going to make you feel the sea.

Rose DeWitt Bukater: (to Jack) I’m going to make you feel the sky.

[Jack and Rose are in the water, clinging to a piece of debris.]

Jack Dawson: (to Rose) Rose, you must swim. You can’t stay here with me.

Rose DeWitt Bukater: (crying) I can’t leave you, Jack!

Jack Dawson: (smiling) Then come with me, Rose. You can’t live forever in just one little room.

Rose DeWitt Bukater: (smiling) I can’t live forever, but I can die now.

[Jack and Rose kiss, and Rose lets go of the debris, trusting Jack.]
