INT. LATE 1940s – A WOODEN FENCE AROUND A SMALL CEMETERY – DAY
Allison, a young woman in her early 20s, walks slowly through the cemetery. She stops at a grave.
ALLISON (whispering) (Turning over the soil gently) This is the place, where we should have been together. But life… it has its own way.
EXT. SMALL TOWN, SUMMER – DAY
ALLISON and NOAH, both in their early 20s, are in a car, driving through the countryside. They’re laughing, holding hands.
NOAH I can’t believe we’re really doing this.
ALLISON Neither can I. It’s like a dream.
EXT. NOAH’S FAMILY FARM – DAY
NOAH and ALLISON are in a field, looking at a notebook.
NOAH I want you to know that everything that happened here… every word, every feeling, it’s all real.
ALLISON (softly) And I want to believe you.
EXT. THE BEACH – DAY
ALLISON and NOAH are on the beach, building sandcastles.
NOAH One day, when you’re old and grey, I want you to remember this.
ALLISON I will. Because this is where I met you.
INT. NOAH’S FAMILY FARM – DAY
NOAH and ALLISON are in the barn.
NOAH (looking at a notebook) This is where we met, on this day. I was a kid, and I had no idea how my life was about to change.
EXT. NOAH’S FAMILY FARM – SUMMER – DAY
NOAH is writing in a notebook. ALLISON watches him.
NOAH (picking up the notebook) Allison, this is my life. And this is your life. And we are together, forever.
EXT. NOAH’S FAMILY FARM – DAY
ALLISON is looking through the notebook. She stops at a page with a drawing of a house.
ALLISON This… this is our house.
NOAH It will be. And we’ll live there, with our children, and we’ll be happy.
INT. THE BEACH – NIGHT
ALLISON and NOAH are lying on the sand, looking at the stars.
NOAH (singing) I wrote a song for you…
ALLISON (singing along) And I’ll sing it for you…
EXT. NOAH’S FAMILY FARM – SUMMER – DAY
NOAH and ALLISON are in the barn, looking at the notebook.
NOAH (reading) We’ll have a dog named Max…
ALLISON (grinning) And we’ll take long walks on the beach…
EXT. THE BEACH – DAY
NOAH and ALLISON are running along the beach, laughing.
NOAH This is the life we’ll have. The life we want.
INT. NOAH’S FAMILY FARM – NIGHT
ALLISON and NOAH are in the barn, looking at the stars.
NOAH (whispering) Allison, I love you.
ALLISON I love you too.
EXT. NOAH’S FAMILY FARM – SUMMER – DAY
NOAH is looking at the notebook. ALLISON is sitting next to him.
NOAH (reading) I’ll make you laugh, I’ll make you cry…
ALLISON I already know that.
EXT. THE BEACH – DAY
NOAH and ALLISON are in a rowboat. They’re rowing together, smiling.
NOAH Life is a journey, Allison. And you’re my best companion.
INT. NOAH’S FAMILY FARM – DAY
NOAH is looking at the notebook. ALLISON is holding it for him.
NOAH (reading) I promise you…
ALLISON (whispering) I know.
EXT. NOAH’S FAMILY FARM – DAY
NOAH and ALLISON are in the barn, looking at the notebook.
NOAH (reading) I will love you until the day I die…
ALLISON (sighing) I will love you too.
INT. NOAH’S FAMILY FARM – DAY
NOAH and ALLISON are sitting on the barn floor, looking at the notebook.
NOAH (reading) And we will be together forever…
ALLISON (looking up) Forever.
EXT. THE BEACH – DAY
NOAH and ALLISON are walking on the beach, holding hands.
NOAH This is our story. And it’s a beautiful one.
ALLISON Yes, it is.
